HE STANDS WITH US

I have these devotional cards that I read everyday throughout my work day. The one I read today really got my day started great and I thought I would share it with you all.

He Stands With Us
"With God, you have power. No matter what happens in life, you can turn to him, depend on him, put all of your hope in him. His power is greater than any struggle you face or pain you feel. And when you face the evil one, you can be strong because he gives you armor to protect you. His armor shields you and his power helps you stand strong. His strengths flows through you so you can defeat the evil one and it will carry you through to the end."

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

You are the apple of his eye

After reading my bible this morning I began to be aware of just how protected we are by God. He protects us and takes it seriously when we are in danger. Yes, I know that God has the power and the authority to prevent bad things from happening and maybe he does allow some things to happen. Now this does not mean that it does not hurt him. We don't need to live our lives being afraid if we are confident in God.

Zechariah 2:8-9 (The Message)

8 GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, the One of Glory who sent me on my mission, commenting on the godless nations who stripped you and left you homeless, said, "Anyone who hits you, hits me--bloodies my nose, blackens my eye. 9 Yes, and at the right time I'll give the signal and they'll be stripped and thrown out by their own servants." Then you'll know for sure that GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies sent me on this mission.

Books I am reading

I don’t consider myself a great writer, so I try to do my best to transfer my thoughts to you. What I enjoy as well as writing my thoughts is reading. You can find the books that I am currently reading by glancing at the bar on your right. Happy reading and writing.

Return to the Lord

So this morning I have decided to begin reading Zechariah. For the next few weeks or months I will enter sporadic comments on what I have read and learned from this book.

Zechariah 1

A Call to Return to the LORD

1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo:
2 "The LORD was very angry with your forefathers. 3 Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty. 4 Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.' But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the LORD . 5 Where are your forefathers now? And the prophets, do they live forever? 6 But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your forefathers?
"Then they repented and said, 'The LORD Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do.'"

My desire is to fall in love with God all over again. With new convictions and commitments. I don’t want to just read the word instead I need to apply it my life. I feel confident that if I try to grow in God he will make the path open for me to fall in love with him again. Pleasant or not God will always treat us as we deserve to be treated. He will discipline us as he should because he is a just God (Zechariah 1:6b). He values our repentance, we are like a lost child coming home.

Many of my friends have made a conscious decision to leave God. I pray that they will find their God again and return to the Lord. I have always thought of the world and the lives we live as a difficult endeavor, how do we survive in it without the guidance and shield of God and his word? Anyway, I hope you will join me in a commitment to being in the word and aware of his presence.
